Navona Square
A masterpiece of the Roman baroque
16 minutes by metro
Piazza Navona is one of the most famous and the most beautiful squares of Rome, a real open-air museum that embodies the splendor of Roman Baroque. Its long and irregular shape, that reminds an ancient stadium, makes it a unique and evocative place.
Its origins date back to the roman era, when there was Domiziano Stadium, used for games and competitions. Over the centuries, the square hired different shapes and functions, so that, in the 17th century, it became the beating heart of the baroque Roma.
